"I'm Happy You're Alive"

Wow. Where do I start? Well let's try here. This is honestly THE best I've ever read in my entire life. The book "Takin' Over" by Brandon "Lil' B" McCartney is a collection of positive advice and how to help yourself and the people around you. It tells how to come to terms with self image problems, how to forgive people, and how to truly accept and love yourself for who you are. The book is in email format as to show that he really wants people to feel like they are having a sincere heart-to-heart conversation with Lil' B himself. It's a great pick up, plus, you can feel like the copy of the book you receive is just for you. He signs the first page on the book with, "Peace and Love. Lil' B", and the last page of the book with his name. Here are a few inspirational quotes from his book (that I finished in one day I might add).

"It's our country......this is it......it's one hot place, a storm, a tornado, and a whole hurricane of hope and possibilities. Let's not mess it....Let's make it better, though." - Ch. 12 - Pg. 143

"Anger is old, violence is past-tense." - Ch. 4 - Pg. 43

"The irony of loneliness is that everybody shares it from time to time." - Ch. 5 - Pg. 64

And now, the last quote that had me laughing for a good 30 minutes (mainly because I imagined this being said in B's voice).

"When I was about 10, I was throwing some trash out for my mother, and I threw the trash up over the bin and it fell back on my jeans and I felt something dripping down on my leg. It was blood, my blood, from a broken bottle that was in the trash bag and slid into my leg. I looked at all that blood - I had never seen so much blood come from a human being, let alone me, and I said.....

"O MY GOD, I'VE BEEN KILLED." - Ch.7 - Pg. 93

Honestly, after reading this book, I felt like a new person. Like a fresh breeze had rushed through my soul, eliminating all negative thoughts. Even after just one read, one thing this book had already helped me out with is forgiving people (which I have the HARDEST time in the world doing. Ask anyone that knows me, I can hold a grudge forever haha). If you want something new and refreshing to read that will significantly uplift your spirits, you should most definitely check out this book. It can only be purchased online, so if you're interested, you can buy it here, and feel free to contact him about whatever on his MySpace or Twitter.

"Lloyd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

If I could have a secret love affair with HBO, I would, because our love child would be this show, "Entourage". I started watching the show this year, about half way through season six and I must say, what a fine display of actors. This show is everything I hope my future to be, money, cars, girls, celebs, a scandalous drama! It takes place in Los Angeles (my favorite place on Earth), and they usually end up going to a lot of restaurants and stores that I've visited down there. The show's executive producer is Mark Wahlberg (from the movie "The Shooter"), he also makes a few appearances in the series, along with a long list of other celebrities. Go watch this series immediately! Seasons 1-5 sell for about $145 on the WalMart website.

P.S.

Jeremy Piven is the G.O.A.T.

"I Came....On The Back Of Her Leg..." - Kevin Smith

I'll say this before I get started, if you're not into vulgar language, random ass things, and the happenings behind the scenes of movies, then you'll most likely NOT like this book. Actor/Director Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) has published a new book consisting of all his "SModcasts" in text form. In the book, Kevin has various conversations about life's randomness with his long time friend and co-worker, Scott Mosier.

"Filled with candid and frequently raunchy conversations about life, society, filmmaking and just about anything else that comes to mind for the pair (who are occasionally joined by Smith's wife and various members of his social professional circle), "Shootin' The Sh*t" collects more than 50 transcripts from the pair's SModcast sessions. However, as Smith told MTV News during a recent visit, there are some topics he's learned to avoid—especially when his wife's around." - MTV Movies Blog

So, if you liked the movies "Jay and Silet Bob Stike Back", "Clerks", and "Zach and Miri Make A Porno", then I'm sure you'll like this book. It's a good inside look at the life of one of my favorite directors (granted he's one of the few I know by name). It's a great laugh, give it a read.

Hipsters? Hipstars? Hypsturz?

This is something I've wanted to talk about for a LONG time. So about two years ago while I was shopping on Melrose in Los Angeles, I saw a group of people walking down the street in tight jeans, weird clothes, vests, and mock Ray-Ban with clear lenses. At first reaction, I was like "WTF?!? BBQSAUCE?!?". I had no clue what their style was, but strangely enough, it slightly intrigued me. Soon I found out what the name of their style was, or at least what that group of people were called, "Hipsters". I thought to myself, "I guess that makes sense, I suppose they are hip..kinda". There is a blog on the internet that likes to keep track of the most current hipster trends called "Look At This Fucking Hipster", I find myself on there often if I need a few good laughs, but honestly, some of their style I actually do like. To me, hipsters are probably some of the nicest/weirdest people you will ever meet. They are the kind of people I would like to hang out with, you know, not afraid to try new styles and not caring what other people think when it comes it their own fashion. Some on the stuff on LATFH is hella suspect, but you just gotta look past that and see the unique fashion connection between now and the 80's. So if you haven't checked it out yet, give it a look, you might see something you like, or not.

Welcome To The New World.

Hello all, and welcome to my new blog "New Heights". When picking a name for my new page, I sat there for a while, contemplating whether or not I should make it really generic, or something that I felt fit. I picked the name "New Heights" because it seems like everyday, everything in the world is reaching new heights. From technology, to music, to fashion, they all grow endlessly every single day.

Alright, enough with the formalities. Let's get this shit poppin'.

First of here is a band that I've currently learned to love in the past few weeks. This song has a real positive, fresh vibe to it. Like one of those "Don't worry, everything is gonna be alright" type songs. I dig it, it's groovy, rock on.

Here is the song "1901" by Pheonix
